Empirical.

Resarch

For Tilmann Drebes, research means understanding social phenomena embedded in society and the economy. He is concerned with not just reducing innovation to an outcome. Tilmann examines the processes of the emergence, course and effects of innovations in a multidimensional way. To this end, it is necessary to work empirically and practically, to collect and evaluate independent data. He gains new insights by applying methods of empirical social research, especially a combination of different methods of quantitative and qualitative research.

Practical.

Teaching

For Tilmann Drebes, teaching does not mean delivering solitary monologues, but working in an application-oriented manner. Using the example of projects with the Merck Innovation Centers in Darmstadt and Autobahn GmbH in Berlin, his students were able to experience the topics of innovation, transformation and sustainability in an application-oriented way. Tilmann carried out comparable projects with Digital City Darmstadt, Software AG, Fraport AG in Frankfurt am Main and the police. This makes it clear to the students that in everyday working life, not everything always goes as originally planned and expected.

Connected.

Transfer

Dialog with practice partners and with research is very important to Tilmann Drebes. It is about exchange and networking as well as knowledge transfer and communication. Tilmann has already been able to develop and establish new regional and national networks in the Rhine-Main and Rhine-Neckar regions. These also serve to ensure that his students not only learn theoretical knowledge, but also experience its application. In addition, practice benefits from his approach when progress is made on the basis of accompanying scientific research.
